Bailey and Shadow

Shadow (on left) and Bailey (on right) Note from MSR (the Rescue): Lilly (now Bailey) was owned by a single mom with small children who worked full time. Purchased as a puppy, Lilly had far too much energy for this young family and being gone all day, Lilly was left in a crate every day for far too many hours. When she came to Rescue, she had not been well socialized and was frightened of nearly everything. In fact, when we picked her up, she was so nervous and scared, she had an explosion of diarrhea in the car enroute to the foster mom's home!

Once in foster care, she was spayed and her socialization began. Lilly slowly came out of her shell and over may weeks and with the loving care, training and patience of her foster mom, she learned the ropes of being a well adjusted and socialized little dog.

We looked for just the right home for Lilly, someone who was willing to put in the time and effort to continue her socialization and training. Although she met a couple of prospective adopters, we knew right away when Michael and Karen met Lilly, that they would be the perfect pet-parents for her. Unfortunately, Michael and Karen had recently lost their beloved Schnauzer also named Lilly. Coincidence . . . we don't think so. We believe that Lilly was meant to be with Michael and Karen. Here are their thoughts on Lilly, now Bailey and their life with her.

Hello there to all of you. I just thought I'd drop you a note with a few pictures of Bailey. These pictures were all taken today [May7, 2008]. She is doing soooo great. She is very self-confident now and doesn't cower when new people come around her.

Bailey and Shadow are great companions. Always playing and having a great time. When they sleep, they are almost always touching each other. It's so good for both of them to have that companionship....not to mention for US to have that companionship!

Bailey has the sweetest little face and really knows how to use those big, brown, schnauzer eyes when she's being corrected. We just love her to death and are so glad we got her and she got us! I think you can tell by the pictures that she is happy and has a good home and life. She's very social with our neighbor's two dogs as well. One thing for sure, she definitely gets her exercise!! I'm so glad it worked out for her to come to us. Thank you.

Update

"I am sad to report that we have lost both Bailey and Shadow this year. We lost Shadow to complications from diabetes. He fought it for about a year, but succumbed to it's wrath on April 6, 2013. Then one month later, to the day, our sweet Bailey died from an apparent blood clot. She had shown no signs of anything being wrong; and within 15 minutes of any sign of distress (and we had already made it to emergency), she was gone. Personally, I think she died from a broken heart. She and Shadow were constant buddies."

"Needless to say, our hearts are still very raw. She was the sweetest little girl. We loved her so much, and she brought us so much pleasure. To lose them both so close together is beyond words, that's for sure. Be assured that she had a good life and was a very happy girl. We can't express how very much we miss her, and Shadow, too. They were both so very sweet, loving, loyal companions."
When we need to keep them in just a portion of the house, I close this gate. I get this look from them frequently!! When we need to keep them in just a portion of the house, I close this gate. I get this look from them frequently!!
