Buddy's Happy Tail....

A mellow guy

Note from MSR (the Rescue): Jackie's original owner was terminally ill and Jackie was brought to Portland to the daughter of a friend who had a friend that wanted a schnauzer. By the time the dog arrived the friend had gotten a puppy and could not take Jackie.

Jackie stayed in Portland with the daughter's family, but with a huge extended family and two other big dogs, they felt Jackie was not getting the attention and life he deserved. After a lot of prayers and soul searching they contacted MSR and Jackie came into rescue.

My wee friend and I are adjusting beautifully to our lives together these past 11 weeks.

I have changed his name to Buddy (over the course of the summer it was, "Little buddy Jackie", "My Jackie buddy", or just "Bud" as a nickname). He is enjoying the children in the neighbourhood, and they come to call almost daily to play with him (which takes the form of me playing with the kids as Buddy watches from the shade under a tree ). The girl, a seven year old, was frightened of all dogs and now can really enjoy the schnauzer so her mom is happy!!

We are down to the park and to the beach every morning at about 6:45 for an hour and a half. Thankfully, there are bunnies to chase and seagulls to harass so he gets a "good tear" in four or five times while we are at the park. He has become a bit more solid and sturdy with this exercise and I loved to see him fly across the beach dislodging 73 Canada Geese from their breakfast one morning. Had one turned to honk at him I am sure he would have flown to my arms in a second!!

He has a mellow personality and is curious and interested in everything. He certainly has added joy and fun to my life and those around us!!

Many thanks,

Barbara H.
